How to play
60 seconds. The more you burn, the higher your score. It is dusk on Weiya, the year-end feast, and the shop is burning joss paper out front. Your left hand holds a stack; with your right you pull out one sheet at a time and push it into the metal burner bucket. When the stack runs low it refills itself, so you can never use it all up.
Press and hold the lower part of the screen to take a sheet. Drag it over the mouth of the bucket and let go, and the paper flies the way you pushed it. While you hold one, a gold landing ring is drawn on the bucket, and the loose sheets come down around it. Letting go away from the bucket just puts the sheet back, and it does not count as a mistake.
Read the wind. The sign at the top center shows which way the wind blows; one to three bars mean a light wind, a strong wind and gusts. Before the wind turns, a "Wind shift" tag shows up under the sign. The landing ring moves with the wind too, so aim toward the side the wind comes from, and it will blow the loose sheets into the bucket.
The hotter the fire, the more each sheet scores. The meter on the left is the fire: every sheet that goes in pushes it up, and it keeps slowly dropping every second. There are seven levels. At "Mega!" each sheet is worth 2 points, at "Wild!" 3 points, and at every other level 1 point. When the fire sinks, the value of each sheet sinks with it. "Wild!" always drops back to "Mega!" after 10 seconds, so push hard to get it back up.
Don't let the paper fly away. Sheets that end up out of reach (off screen, too far from the bucket, or too high) cost 2 points each. Sheets you can still see on the ground glow: press one to pick it up and push it again, and a sheet you have picked up never costs points. Hold your hand over the fire too long and it gets too hot, so you pull back; push in too many at once before they catch and the fire is smothered in white smoke. Your score never drops below 0.
When time is up, sheets still in the air count once they settle. After the string of firecrackers by the shop door goes off and the fire dies down, you get a burn report: your score, how many sheets went straight in, how many you picked up, how many blew away, the hottest level the fire reached, and your title.
Fingers only. No tilting, and no "Motion & Orientation" permission prompt.
On a computer: hold the mouse button, drag, and let go to push; P pauses, R restarts the same round.
Titles
Your title depends on the score of one round. At the two hottest levels of the fire, every sheet is worth more.
